The “Solar Energy for Green Schools” competition is starting in Belarus, an A1 environmental project in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the UN Development Program in Belarus. During its implementation, it is planned to select 7 “green schools” – one in each region of the Republic of Belarus and in Minsk. They will install panels for converting solar energy into electrical energy, as well as special lighting and storage equipment to clearly demonstrate the results of the sun to schoolchildren.
“For A1, ecology and environmental protection are an important strategic area of corporate social responsibility. We decided to support the National Educational Project of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Education “Green Schools”, offering our technical expertise and taking on the implementation of all aspects related to the introduction and operation of solar-powered equipment. We see the particular value of this project in that it combines ecology and education and emphasizes the possibility of using energy from renewable natural sources in everyday life, ”noted Nikolai Yushkevich, A1 Deputy Director General.
One of the main goals of the project is to show in practice to each student what benefit energy from renewable sources brings (in this case, solar energy). It is planned that the implementation of the project “Solar Energy for Green Schools” will make environmental information more accessible for students, and will also serve as a driving force in solving local environmental problems.
